Poem: If Only

My eyes shut tight; I couldn't see.
My ears closed down; I wouldn't hear.
My lips held firm; I couldn't speak.
My heart torn open; I cannot feel.

I'm as cold now as your lifeless body,
tho I act on the heat coursing through me.
I'm as lost now as a child,
tho I've searched for years to find me.

If only I'd looked in your eyes
...heard the love in your voice
... spoke the truth in my heart.
