Spoilers: Takes place a few days after the episode Motherhood.
"There is no chance in Tataurus I am letting you travel with us!" Xena snapped at Virgil. The young bard just looked at her. He was determined to travel with the great Xena and her best friend Gabrielle. He let out a sigh and gave Xena a serious look.
"Xena, I am coming with you! Like it or not!"
Gabrielle walked up beside Virgil, and put her hand on his shoulder. "Virgil, you are a great fighter, and we do wish you could come with us. But you have to understand..."
Virgil turned to her, pushing her hand off. "I know what your gonna say, and you don't have to say it." He turned back to Xena. "I can take care of myself."
Xena was getting frustrated at the young fighter/bard. She felt like she could just ring her hands around his throat, and kick him home. But he was like his father in a way, never giving up. She opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by her daughter.
"Let him come, mother." Eve said. "He is a great figher, and he's smart. We might need him."
Xena glared at her daughter, but sighed in defeat. She then turned back to Virgil. "Ok. Fine. But don't start whining when there's danger around."
Virgil grinned at the Warrior Princess. "Don't worry. I've never whined in my life. And I am not afraid of anything." Xena nodded. Gabrielle sighed heavely and went back to her sleeping mat.
Xena turned back to Virgil. "Get some sleep. It's late, and we've got a big day ahead of us." Xena turned and walked over to her sleeping mat next to Gabrielle's.
Virgil looked around the camp. Dammit! Where the hell am I gonna sleep? He thought. Virgil suddenly felt someone watching him from behind. He turned to see a beautiful pair of blue eyes looking at him.
Eve stared into the young man's eyes as the made eye-contact. There was still some hate there, but only a little bit. There was more of....forgiveness. Couple of weeks ago, when she was Livia, she had killed Virgil's father, Joxer. Every chance he got, he would make a move to kill her, but her mother would always prevent that. Now, he was different. He made no move to kill her at all.
"What?" He asked.
She looked at him for awhile before speaking. "I...I am sorry...about your father. If there was anything I could do...."
"It's alright. His soul is at rest now. I mean, now that you are Eve again." He said reassuringly.
Eve gave him a confused look. "You're forgiving me?" She asked.
Virgil shook his head yes. "When I went back home for awhile, my mother told me that....without forgiveness, the world would be a cruel place. And she wanted me to tell you that she forgives you as well."
Eve gave Virgil a small smile. Her smile faded as she stared at him some more. This was making Virgil nervous. He let out a sigh as he smiled and ran a hand through his blond hair. Eve looked the young man up and down. He was very handsome, nice muscules, and had a cute smile. Eve was starting to feel something. Something strong, and special. Eve was feeling something strong and special for the boy. Could it be...love? She thought. Love?!! No no!! It has to be something else! Could it? She wondered. "You don't have a place to sleep do you?" She asked him.
Virgil looked back at her. She was beautiful, he had to admit. Woah, where did that come from?! Virgil looked around the surroundings. " I'll uh...I'll find some place around here." Virgil looked back at Eve, who had pulled over her mat covers and patted to some extra space. Virgil looked down at the space, then back at Eve, not sure what to do. Eve gave him a sweet and welcoming smile, which made him gulp. Virgil shrugged and went over to Eve.
As Virgil kneeled to the extra space, he got a good glance of parts of Eve's body that wasn't covered by her clothing. Gods, she was more beautiful than Aphrodite herself! More beautiful than Gabrielle as well! Virgil layed down next to Eve, with his back against her. She put the covers back over them. Suddenly, now Virgil was begining to feel something special for the daughter of Xena. How could something that seems wrong, feel so incredibly right? He wondered.
Virgil could feel the warmth of her breath against the back of his neck as she fell asleep. For some reason in his mind and his heart, he had a sudden urge to just turn around and kiss her lips with incredible passion. But he resisted with all his will power, and fell asleep next to Eve.
It was later in the morning as the four walked up into an inn in the closest village near where they camped. Xena noticed, while on there way to and in the village, that every time Virgil was right by Eve, he would feel not anger...but....nervous. He had been so edgy since their travel to the village. Gabrielle had also noticed this. It was the way how Joxer was around her. Could this mean...Virgil has feelings for Eve?
Xena was the first to speak up. "We're heading up North from here on."
Gabrielle, who seemed to be the only one listening to Xena looked up at her best friend. "Why North?"
Xena turned to the Amazon Queen/bard. "I had a dream last night. Michael was in it. He told me to head for my home, Amphipolis. He didn't tell me the rest, but I think it's got something to do with me and Eve." Xena looked to see if she got her daughter's attention yet. Nothing. Eve was to busy watching Virgil as he walked over to the bar.
Xena and Gabrielle both noticed this, and giggled. Xena touched Eve's shoulder, causing her to jump. "Are you ok sweety...or are those hormones taking over?" Xena smiled. Eve blushed, and got one last and quick glance at Virgil before she turned to her mother. Virgil stared in the direction of Eve as she turned toward Xena. He was feeling something for the young warrior. Whatever it was, it was sure strong. Virgil looked down at his empty cup, with them memory of sleeping next to Eve last night, running through his head. He could still feel her breath of the back of his neck.
Eve turned to both her mother and Gabrielle. "Can I ask you both something?" They both nodded. "Well, what is this strange feeling where you...where you...well you know." Xena lifted a brow, and waited for Eve to give a better explanation. Eve let out a small sigh and rolled her eyes. "...where you have butterflies in your stomach when your around someone?" Gabrielle smirked, and Xena gave a knowing grin.
"Come out with it, young lady." Xena told her daughter. Eve looked confused.
"What?" She asked.
Gabrielle looked at Xena, and from her expressions, she knew exactly what was going on. "Eve, I think I know what's going on here."
Eve looked at Gabrielle, curiously. "What is it?"
Gabrielle leaned forward towards Eve. "Your inlove."
Eve's eyes went wide open as she gasped. "No! no way. T-that can't be!"
But Gabrielle and Xena shook their heads yes. Xena, then, spoke up. "And if I'm not mistaken, I'd say your going ga-ga over..." She looked in Virgil's direction. "...Joxer's boy."
Eve crossed her arms over her chest. "B-but I...but I'm a warrior. A messenger of Eliah. I can't be in love."
Xena put a hand on her daughter's. "Eve, it's ok to fall inlove. Even if you are a warrior and a messenger."
Eve looked over at her mother. Slowly, it was like she was realizing something. She looked down at the table. "Then I guess..." Xena was waiting impatiently for her daughter to finish.
"Then I guess I'm inlove...with Virgil." She said quietly.
Later on that evening, Xena and Gabrielle went into town to buy food and supplies for their travel to Amphibolis. They left Eve and Virgil in a room, at the inn finished eating at. Virgil sat up on an old wooden chair, while Eve laid down on the soft bed. "So what do you think?" She asked him.
He looked at her like he had just woken up. "Wha?"
She leaned up and looked straight at him with her lovely blue eyes. "I said what do you think...about this whole journey so far?"
Virgil shrugged. "It's...It's been nice so far." Nice? Geez Virgil, could you think of any other stupid thing to say?! He asked himself.
Eve sat up on the bed. "Virgil. I wanted to ask you about something" Virgil looked over at her. She looked down, and her lips made a small frown. The look on her face was of guilt. He knew what she was going to say.
"Eve, I already told you. I forgive you for what you did to my father. I may have hated you, but that's all in the past now. " He explained. "His soul is at peace now. That's all that matters."
Eve looked back up at Virgil, and gave him a warm smile. He returned the smile. Suddenly, her smile began to turn a little more...erotic. This made Virgil smile nervously and clear his throat. Eve got up from the bed, and walked over to Virgil. She put on hand on his cheek, and careesed it with her thumb, softly. He looked up at her surpised, and noticed a familiar look on her face. A look His father, Joxer the Mighty, gave his mother, Meg, alot. A look of nothing but love. Pure love. Eve brushed her thumb against his lips. Could she feel the same way? He thought. He looked at her again, and the answer was right in front of him.
He kissed her thumb, then turned his head and kissed the palm of her hand. Her skin was so soft and cool. In the name of Eliah! Something was happening. That damn strange feeling was coming over him again. This time, he had no control.
Virgil looked up in Eve's blue eyes, and got up from the chair. He stared at her so lovingly as he cupped her face with both his strong hands, and they both leaned toward's each other's lips. Before they made contact, Eve's warm, wet tongue licked Virgil's upper lip, causing his craving for her to increase. Their lips met in a soft kiss, that soon deepened by both into a passionate kiss.
If this was a dream, neither wanted to wake up. If this was real, they didn't want to fall asleep. To both of them, the kiss felt like pure magic. It was different from when Eve kissed Ares. Her kiss with the God of War was only of lust. For Virgil, he had never felt such power and comfort, kissing any girl before. This kiss, to both of them, was of nothing but love. Virgil began to feel his strong arms wrap around Eve's waist, as Eve's arms wrapped around his neck. Finally, after many minutes had passed, they both pulled away for air.
Eve and Virgil opened their eyes, and stared at each other for a moment. A beautiful smile crept up on Eve's face, as well as Virgil's. "So...this...this is love." She asked.
Virgil shrugged while he was still in her arms. "Yeah. I think so." He answered. Eve touched his face once more.
"So this is love that we're feeling."
Virgil nodded in response. "It's love. No doubts there."
Eve smiled mischieviously at the poetic bard/warrior. "How bout another round?"
Virgil shook his head yes. "I could go on forever, darlin'."
She shook her head too. "So could I" They pulled in for another kiss. They didn't notice that Xena and Gabby peaking in through the door, smiling at the two youths. Xena tapped Gabrielle, and the headed out in the hallway.
"I told you they were gonna get together, didn't I?" Xena smiled.
"Ok, you win. But I just hope things go ok for those two. They've been through so much." Gabrielle told her.
Xena put a hand on her best friend's shoulder. "It will. Just trust me on that." Gabrielle looked down and smiled. Just then, a golden light emerged infront of the duo.
"Hello Xena. Gabrielle. It's good two see you two again." A figure in the light greeted.
"Michael." Xena smiled at the archangel. "So what's up, got any new missions for me or something."
Michael rolled his eyes. Xena always seemed to get down to the point. No friendly greetings, no what you been up to's, just what is it now. "I came to tell you that the prophecy has been fulfilled. The Olympian Order has ended." He told them.
Xena rose an eyebrow ackwardly. "There's a -but there's a small problem- line, isn't there?"
Michael nodded. "Yes, unfortunatly. Before the New Order of Light can begin, there is a problem. Does the name, Dahak, ring a bell?"
Gabrielle looked up at Xena, then back at Michael. "Yeah, it does. What's the bastard up to this time?"
Michael put his hands behind his back. "He has heard that the gods have fallen, and now he is waiting to unleash his order. An order known only as the Dark Order."
Xena leaned her shoulder against the wall. "So, what does this have to do with us." She pointed to her and Gabrielle.
"Nothing. It concerns Eve."
Xena bolted up after hearing her daughter's name. "Why?" She asked with a worryness tone.
"She is the messenger of Eliah, and a great warrior. Probably the best, since she is part you and Callisto. But she is also one of the champions of the light. She has the power to destroy Dahak." He explained.
Gabrielle walked up to the archangel. "You said she was one of the champions of the light. How many others are there?" She asked.
Michael looked down at the bard/Amazon Queen/Warrior. "There are two more. The third one is unknown of. But the second one is a young man you know well. He can write very interesting stories."
Xena put her hands to her hips. "Virgil. I should've known. But I don't think they both are ready to face Dahak." She explained.
"In time, they will. But it's not just Dahak they will be up against. Warlords, monsters, demons, followers of the Titans, and others."
Gabrielle shook her head. "Boy, this is starting to turn out like repeating time. Eve is in Xena's place, and Virgil in my place."
"Yes. But the challenges that await them both are twice as worse as those you two have faced, together or alone."
Gabrielle and Xena jumped when they both heard a voice from behind. "Who are you guys talking too?" It was Eve's. Virgil was behind her.
Xena turned to Eve, then saw that Michael dissapeared. "Uh, just talking to Gabrielle. We uh...decided to sleep in for the night."
Both the youths nodded. "Ok, but how are we gonna sleep. There is only one bed in here?"
Xena turned to Gabrielle. Gabrielle turned to Eve and Virgil. "We got seperate rooms, so don't worry. You two can have that room."
"Yeah, and try not to make to much noise now, you hear?" Xena laughed. Virgil and Eve looked confused at her mother's comment, until they realized what she meant. She must've saw the two making out.
Virgil couldn't help but blush bright red. Eve turned to look at him, and giggled at the sight of seeing his face. He looked at her. "Eh? What are you laughing about?" Virgil began to tickle her sides. Eve screamed and laughed as he chased her in the room, closing the door behind them.
Xena and Gabrielle looked at each other. "You don't think they are really going to...you know. I mean they have only been together for few minutes." Gabby asked.
Suddenly, they heard Eve laugh loud as Virgil continued to tickle her. Xena smirked. "No. But foreplay...now that is another story." Both of the female duo shared a moment of laughter.
Meanwhile in Virgil and Eve's room, Virgil continued to tickle Eve at her sides as they played on the bed. She tried to escape, but he would always chase after her. Finally, Virgil stopped as he looked down at the daughter of Xena. She looked up at him, wondering why he had stopped. "What is it?" She asked.
Virgil let out a little laugh and smiled down at her. "Nothing. Just admiring how beautiful you are." She blushed at his remark, and leaned up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you." She said.
Virgil looked confused. "For what?"
"For calling me beautiful."
Virgil laid down beside her. "It's the truth. You are beautiful."
They smiled lovingly at each other, and pulled in for what was their third kiss. As they pulled away, Virgil laid his head down on Eve's stomach. "I have to get up in the morning in go to town." She told him as she ran her fingers through his blond hair lightly.
"Why?" He asked.
"I've got get some new armor. I gave mine away after I found out who I really was." She answered.
Virgil grabbed and kissed the back of her free hand that laid on his chest. "I'll go with you."
She smiled. "That would be nice."
There was a small silence in the room, until Virgil broke the silence. "Do you think that this could really be...love?"
Eve thought for a moment, then spoke up. "I think so. I hope it is."
Virgil moved from his position on her stomach, and layed right next to her. "Then you think we could say we l..."
Eve put a finger on his lips. "Not yet. But in time, when we are both sure that this is really love." He nodded in agreement.
Eve snuggled up to the bard/warrior, resting her head against his chest. Virgil wrapped one arm around her, and leaned his head up on the other, watching Eve fall to sleep. Oh God! this was like a dream come true. A girl he fell in love with the moment he saw her was laying asleep right in his arms. Virgil slowly went to sleep as well.
As they slept, both had a dream. A dream where there was light and dark. Where they were fighting, not each other, but someone else. Another vision in there dream came in. They were both in each other's arms, surrounded by light. Both were unaware that this dream was the dream of soulmates.
