SPOILERS: Eve, Motherhood.
SUMMARY: Gabrielle alone on a dark night, post-"Eve". Enjoy

The night is dark with spirits roaming free
They hide the moon, a cold and haunting sea.
The children's tale is told, the waking dead.
You'd haunt me, were it true. It's not to be.

A thousand heartsick phrases in my head
A million things I never should have said
I'd take back in an instant were you here.
But I have cold and night and such instead.

So maybe love is blind, and also fear
Of life, and losing what one holds most dear--
The far-off hope that somehow, things would change
That then I'd close my eyes and draw you near

And caught in your arms, comfortably strange
I'd whisper words I'd like to rearrange:
My hateful barbs, your hateful phrase "good-bye".
To speak of love is silent in exchange.

The night is dark. An empty soul and sky
All my brightest dreams followed you to die.
You gave your all, and take the best of me.
What is left is fear and wondering why

the night is dark.
