I've been riding on Argo
She can carry men or cargo
I bought her in a horse corral
From a salesmen known as Sal
She's a Mare from up Thrace way
Can take on a chariot any day
She & Gabby aren't good friends
A hoof on the foot soon offends
I charge soldiers on her back
She has speed other horses lack
There's no beast that can compare
A swift whistle and she'll be there

She's not yet past her prime
I brush her down at camping time
The other month I shoe'd her new
For a nasty cough she had my brew
The other month I shoe'd her new
She gave me a look that seemed to mock
Gave me quite a little shock
Put up all my hackles
You swapped riders for fresh apples

I've been riding on Argo
She could run for Wells Fargo
I rode her to Corinth Bay
Unlike centaurs she does eat hay
We cantered on Watling street,
Roman light horse weren't so fleet
Aqua Sulis Guard stopped me one day
Said we were speeding the Appian Way
Argo's not so swift in Britannia
Though I told the Guard we had to run here
I like riding on Argo
She nearly got called Margot

It's fun travelling with Argo
She's been to Key Largo
I like riding on Argo
She's as svelte as Bardot
I've been riding on Argo
She carries men or cargo
I like riding on Argo
A mare, not a stallion - now I know
