Joxer's family considered him the coward of Corinth
He tried to fight all the time to try to prove them wrong
I called him Joxie, but Jett just called him stupid
But Joxer tried and when he could sang his little songs.

Joxer was only twelve years old when our father called him over
I just loved my Joxie, cause he wasn't the favored son
I still remember those hateful words our father said to Joxer
"You'll never be a warrior, so you better learn to run."

"You're a coward son, you'll never do the things I've done
You'll run away from fighting when you can
You're so very weak, and you turn the other cheek
I know you're old enough to understand
You'll still be a coward when you're a man."

There are a lot of women in the world but Joxer's love was Gabby
And he tried to prove to her that he was a man
Then one day when they were walking, they got attacked by evil warlords
They tried to beat up Gabby, (there were three of them).

Joxer saw his love go down, trying to protect another person
The thought that someone hurt his beloved was more than he could stand
He rushed over to her side, to protect her with his life
And the fear he felt rushed to his heart when he heard those words
again.

"You're a coward son, you'll never do the things I've done
You'll run away from fighting when you can
You're so very weak, and you turn the other cheek
I know you're old enough to understand
You'll still be a coward when you're a man."

Joxer was used to getting laughed at when it came to his fighting
He usually got beat up, and pushed down to the floor
But when he knelt down next to Gabby on the ground
He knew he would protect her with his life, down to his very core.

All those years of hurt were bottled up inside him
As he stood up, and turned around, and knew he couldn't stall
The man rushed forward, and the blade went swiftly in
He watched the man take one last breath, then he watched him fall.

And I know that he thought

"You called me coward dad and said I'd never do the things you've done
And I'd run away from fighting when I can
And I'm not very weak even though I turn the other cheek
And I don't give a damn if you understand
You don't have to kill to be a man."

Joxer's family considered him the coward of Corinth.
