Poem: Defy Not the Heart
by Anne Beaudry
Copyright 1999
Defy not thy heart for it shall lead thee to true happiness.
For to defy your heart would bring you nothing but sorrow and sickness.
Defend thy heart with thy soul and it shall elevate you to the heavens.
For to allow your heart to suffer would bring only torment,
And for my love so fair, I would rather face the god's wrath and the titan's
fury,
than see you go through the pain and agony of allowing your heart to suffer
needlessly.
Defy your heart no longer, beloved, and come to me.
I would give to Hades my eternal soul for one chance to make you happy.
For your happiness is to me as the bright summer sun is to the rose,
You illuminate my whole world.
The sight of your beauty eases my hunger and quenches my thirst.
Your sighs of happiness cause my soul to rise to the top of Olympus and
beyond.
My beloved, Gabrielle, allow me this one chance and I will
make you eternally happy.
Allow your heart to be free and feel Aprodite's blessings on us this day.
For in the whole world, there is no other love as deep and no other hunger
aches as I do for you.
Defy not your heart and allow it to lead you to me.
